August Bank Holiday Monday! Ready for the long weekend or are you still looking for ideas for what to do this Bank Holiday? According to The Met Office and a certain tropical air, Britain is set to enjoy a mini heatwave this week, with temperatures rising into the high 20’s, particularly in the South of England.
So let’s enjoy the last few weeks of the summer holidays and take advantage of some final summer sunshine! You don’t have to spend a lot of money or stick to a rigorous itinerary. Make the most of being outside with everything Kent has to offer.
Get an ice-cream and go for a walk along the beach
The Kentish seaside is packed with quintessential ice-cream parlours and cafes located right on the beach. Grab a Mr Whippy and go for a stroll along the beach.
Visit the arcades
In addition to plenty of seaside cafes and ice-cream parlours, you will also find a string of colourful arcades and amusements. Get your pennies ready!
Have a picnic on the beach
Pack your picnic basket with some tasty picnic food, grab your blanket and find the perfect spot for a beach picnic.
Go rock pooling
Here in Kent we are lucky to have a whole host of beaches to choose from, both sandy and shingle, with the perfect rock pools. Get to know some of the best rock pooling beaches in Kent. Most of these beaches also offer great cycling and walking routes, picnic spots and beautiful scenery.
Have a BBQ
With so many beautiful coastal spots, buy a disposable BBQ and enjoy a BBQ down the beach as the sun sets. Ensure to check with your beach of choice in case there are restrictions.
Go for a swim
With some of the best beaches around, if the weather is really hot, why not go for a paddle in the sea. If you don’t fancy braving the sea, what about an outdoor pool? The Walmer Paddling pool is free to enter and located in a beautiful setting on the Walmer Green and right by the beach.
