Keeping the kids entertained on holiday is a challenge but if activities are planned in advance you will be well on your way to making your holiday a great one; especially if you plan activities that the whole family will enjoy.
To help you plan your stay in Kent we have selected some activities that will amuse young and old, and provide plenty of memories to share and revisit. So, pack up your sandwiches, hit the road and have fun!
Explore Kent’s Wildlife Parks
Kent is blessed with three major wild animal parks: Howletts, Port Lympne Reserve and Wingham Wildlife Park. Each one offers a completely different day out and something of interest to everyone. More details of each can be found in our Wildlife Experience article.
You can book penguin, red panda and even meerkat experiences, go in an authentic safari experience or just experience the archery, zorbing, go-carts and mini-diggers.
Afterwards, relax in the picnic areas. We told you to pack some sandwiches!
Rare Breeds Centre
For something much gentler the Rare Breeds Centre, located in Ashford (TN26 3RJ), is great fun. A farm set-up allows children to see animals close up and also (with weather permitting) see one of the most popular events; pig racing! There is plenty to see and do with structured activities and a soft play area. Plus, children under 3 years old go for free! Getting to the Rare Breeds Centre is easy from our Little Satmar Park and takes in some beautiful villages on the way, perhaps taking in a country pub on the return journey?
Go Ape at Leeds Castle
A Go Ape adventure is not for the faint hearted but older kids will love it. The bonus of this Go Ape location is that it is in the grounds of one of the UK’s historic jewels, Leeds Castle. The house and gardens are well worth visiting and if you plan ahead your visit could coincide with one of their special events. There is also a 9 hole golf course that might just be of interest?
Bayford Meadows Kart Circuit in Sittingbourne
Now, let the fun begin! Karting for all ages at this 1100m MSA licensed circuit; one of the UK’s premier karting circuits – and it is floodlit!
So if you do fancy a little bit of high adrenaline fun for yourself as well as for the kids, then make sure you check out the website and book in advance. Sittingbourne is a forty minute drive from our Quex Park so is well within reach to include in your holiday itinerary.
Silver Blades Ice Rink
If after the adrenaline filled karting you are up for another challenge, then why not take the family ice skating at Silver Blades Ice Rink in Gillingham. They even have a disco!
Plenty of time to rest tomorrow! Or not….
So, what is it going to be? Don’t forget to share your pictures with us. Whatever the decision, we are looking forward to hearing all about it!
