What a wild and very wet start to the season we have had so far. Rain and thunderstorms seemed to have engulfed the entire country at some point over the past month. Here’s hoping the sun shines again soon and we can get on with enjoying a great summer.
Fortunately the weather was glorious for our BBQ and quiz night, to celebrate the Queens 90th birthday earlier this month. Everyone agreed it was an enjoyable get together, as well as an opportunity to raise money for the Air Ambulance Service. A total of £160.00 was raised so thanks to everyone who gave so generously to a worthy cause.
We will continue to collect for the Air Ambulance and also for the Lifeboat Service throughout the season.
Our bee garden is currently being re-vamped with the addition of some herbs; chives, mint and sage, as well as lavender, which the bees seem to love.
This Sunday is the Battle of Britain Memorial Day, held here in the village of Capel-Le-Ferne, at the Battle of Britain Memorial. The activities run throughout the day, beginning at 10.30am. If the weather permits you will be able to watch a Spitfire and Hurricane take to the skies.
Should you be visiting at the end of July, Dover Castle is holding a Roman Festival on the 30th and 31st. A chance to try your hand at archery, taste some Roman culinary delights and for the youngsters to train and dress up as a gladiator!!
Back nearer the park the Farmer’s Market is held in the village every Tuesday and is well worth a visit. Or there is always the option to just relax on site whilst the children have a go at the quizzes, colouring and fun facts sheets we have on offer which proved really popular last year.
Whatever you choose we can offer a warm welcome and a peaceful place to stay.
