03.11.2016 - General Holiday Parks
With the new season upon us work has been underway to prepare the park for the return of both our holiday home owners and visitors. We look forward to welcoming you all back soon!
Reception has been given a new coat of paint in preparation for this season and the cafe/shop has also undergone some refurbishment and is ready with a warm welcome to provide amongst other things the ever popular all day breakfast!
The herb garden adjacent to reception had to be dismantled as the wooden walls were no longer up to the job. The wood has not gone to waste though; any suitable pieces have been dispersed round the park to create bug homes. The replacement garden has been constructed from brick and is in the process of being completed ready for planting.
During the closed period the scheduled road resurfacing; the driveway from the entrance onto the park, the new road in Robins and the car park in Finches, has been carried out, despite the rain trying to intervene!
As previously reported we were pleased to retain our Gold David Bellamy Award. One of the observations by the inspector, which we would encourage owners to participate in, is providing water for the birds. Whilst we have plenty of food naturally available for them, water can sometimes be in short supply. A small bird bath/water dish will attract feathered visitors which are a pleasure to observe.
We would like to reiterate our request that home owners please monitor any bird feeders you have to avoid attracting any unwanted visitors, (not of the feathered variety), which then have to be dealt with.
All of the park hedges have been cut back and are looking nice and tidy in preparation for new growth and work on the new garden in Robins will be going ahead in the near future, with planting commencing in the spring.
We mentioned in our last newsletter that a Harris Hawk visited us at the end of last season. We are hoping to arrange a demonstration with both Paris (the Harris Hawk) and some of her friends this year too – further details to follow.
Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club have also given us a provisional date of Thursday 1st September at 7.30pm for their rally. We will confirm this with you as soon as we know so keep checking our blog and social media pages for details on this and other events.
All the staff at Quex look forward to another enjoyable season with you!
