Our new garden by reception has really come to life since being revamped over the winter. It is providing a colourful welcome to all our visitors as well as being very popular with the bees and birds; the birds taking full advantage of the two water features for drinking, bathing and playing!
We would like to remind everyone, as we did at the start of the season, to please be very careful with bird feeders as they have a habit of attracting unwanted guests. The birds have so much natural food around the park at this time of year that a small bird bath/water dish feature may be more appropriate – the birds will certainly appreciate it in the warmer weather.
It has proved a constant battle to keep abreast of the grass cutting, with the copious amounts of rain we have had. It has made the grass grow very quickly!! The silver lining of course, is how lovely and green everywhere is. The wonderful British weather has also proved very frustrating in hampering the development of the new garden in Robins; we promise it has not been forgotten about!!
The winds on Easter Sunday meant our visiting birds could not carry out their flying display; however, everyone was still able to observe the Harris Hawk (shadow) and a small owl (Angel) up close and even stroke them. We are planning to have a flying display from the birds on the August Bank Holiday Weekend and trust that the weather will be kinder then.
We are pleased to report that a kestrel which had been injured and nursed back to health was brought here by the falconers and released successfully from the park.
The sun shone for the Queens 90th Birthday celebrations last month and we were able to have a Royal themed quiz and BBQ outside. A toast to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth along with a slice of home-made cake rounded off the afternoon beautifully!!
The Ramsgate Old Motor and Motorcycle Club will be visiting again for their rally at 7.30pm on Thursday 1st September. Why not come and have a look at these beautiful, classic vehicles – the BBQ will be in action too!!!
Further details for August Bank Holiday weekend will follow. Please keep checking our blog and social media pages for details on this and other events.
