Here at Hawthorn Farm we are delighted to announce that two of our holiday home owners received awards from the Kent Wildlife Trust for their efforts in the ‘Wild About Gardens Awards’ this summer. We are hoping that more owners will join the scheme next year and create their own wildlife friendly feature around their holiday home. It is free to enter and more details can be found on The Kent Wildlife Trust website.
We are also pleased to mention that Hawthorn Farm has retained its Gold Award Status in the David Bellamy Conservation Award Scheme for 2016/17. The park team were very conscious to include bee friendly additions this year; both as trees and nectar rich plants for our new ‘rabbit resistant’ wooden planters around the park.
Our tourist office Nature Journal has had some lovely visitor comments. The funniest entry; from 29th July; “A hedgehog came into our tent at 2am and ate our Maltesers!”. Now that’s what we call a late night camping feast! We will continue to record everyone’s wildlife sightings at Hawthorn Farm so don’t forget to add your observations next time you are here!
The new eco-friendly, coin operated, laundry equipment has proved popular and easy to use. We are expecting the laundry room to be renovated during our quieter winter months, as part of our ongoing improvement plan here on the park.
For those of you wanting a winter break we remain open for touring caravans and motorhomes all year. The café however, will be closed from the end of this month until next season. We look forward to welcoming back the winter campers amongst you but if you are not returning until the spring, stay healthy and happy and we will look forward to seeing you again when the weather warms up!
Best wishes from all the team.
